Annual Scientific Meetings

Undoubtedly the focus of the Division centres around the highly popular and successful three day Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) which continues to attract in excess of three quarters of its members as delegates annually. Fourteen Specialty Club meetings spread over one day form a vigorous component of each ASM, covering the following disciplines: breast, skin, gastrointestinal, gynaecological, liver, lung, lymphoma, neuropathology, oral, fine needle aspiration, paediatric/perinatal, renal, soft tissues and urology. Each of the other two days is thematic and centres around the contributions (lectures and slide seminars) of two internationally recognized experts in their respective fields, often supplemented by expert contributions from members of our Division. Poster presentations are a key element of the meeting, allowing pathologists, pathologists-in-training and scientists to present their research endeavours each year; these are judged and prizes are awarded for the outstanding presentations. A Plenary Lecture was included in the programme in 2001 and the Master Classes specifically for trainees was introduced in 2006.
